Braden and Taylor have had the same bedtime routine since, well, almost their whole life. They get their pajamas on, brush teeth, swish with "pink yucky stuff" (fluoride rinse), go potty, read, sing songs (the same ones in the same order every night), they each say a prayer, and they're in bed by 7 pm. Well, a few weeks ago Braden took a very late nap so we decided to put him to bed later after Andy ran on the treadmill. So we got Braden all situated on the couch with head phones so he could watch Transformers (his new obsession) then Andy ran on the treadmill and put him to bed. The next night Braden got out his "spiderman running shoes" (which he never wears because they have "bumps" in them) and told Andy that he needed to run so he could be "so big and strong." We let him and the rest is history. Every night he runs before he gets ready for bed. We tell him he can run for 4 minutes because he's 4 years old but he begs to run longer. He even uses Andy's MP3 player to listen to music. It's so cute because he wants to be just like his daddy. If he keeps it up in a few years he will be Andy's running buddy!
FYI-Taylor is not allowed to run on the treadmill anymore since she finds it fun to stop running and fall off the end of it. Shocking that my adventurous, fearless, daredevil daughter would figure that out! So until she can learn how to be overly cautious like her brother, she's banned!
