My doctor told me if I didn't go into labor over the weekend that I could go into his office at 8:45 am Monday and he would check me to see where I was at. Obviously, I didn't go into labor so we decided to go into my doctor's office hoping that I would be at least at a 5 so I would be eligible for an induction. I was at a 4 so the decision was made to break my water and then go over to the hospital so they would have to keep me. Of course breaking my water didn't put me into labor. (Seriously, I don't know what the deal is with me and labor. Most people are at a 1 and are in labor!) We got to the hospital about 10 am and they hooked me up to the monitors to check my contractions and I wasn't having any. So they started me on pictocin and still no contractions. My nurse turned up the pictocin every half hour to an hour to try to get the contractions going. Around 1pm the pictocin started working so I got an epidural. I still hadn't progressed but I was hoping the epidural would help. Around 3:30 pm I was at a 7 and I knew once I got to a 7 I would be complete in a matter of minutes. At 3:50 pm I was complete but the doctor wasn't there so I had to wait. (During this time there was discussion about her name. How we would spell it and if we would give her a middle name.) The doctor showed up around 5:30 pm and Lily was born at 5:34 pm. She cried (screamed really) for the first 20 minutes until I was able to feed her. After I fed her she was awake and alert for nearly 3 hours.
My parents and Andy's Mom came to the hospital with the kids around 7:30 pm. They were so excited to see Lily. They stayed for an hour and were able to hold her. Ella instantly grew up and seemed so big to me as I saw her compared to Lily. Taylor was very disappointed that Lily wasn't able to go home with her. I was too. It is no secret that I hate hospitals. I would love for the nurse to take me to my car instead of the recovery room after I deliver. Fortunately, my doctor was very understanding of this and I was able to go home at 1 pm the next day. So my hospital stay was very short. The way I like it.
(These pictures were taken while we were waiting for all the paperwork to go home.)
