Braden's Christmas Present...6 weeks late!

We finally got Braden's Christmas present made. We had quite a few bumps along the way but it is done! I think we stained the frame 5 different times but it was totally worth the agony of sanding it down and starting all over again because the frame looks awesome and matches his bed perfectly! Braden loves learning. He also loves geography. For his birthday last year he bought a world atlas with the gift card Grandma and Papa McCune got him. We kept asking him at the bookstore if we wanted to choose something else but he really wanted the atlas book. He absolutely loves the book. His cousin Bren has a huge world map on his wall and he told us that he wanted a map like Bren on his wall. So I decided that is what we would give him for Christmas. But not just a map, a map that was also a framed magnet board that was reversible with the United States Map on one side and the World Map on the other. I think Andy thought I was crazy (and about halfway through I thought I was too) but he got to work and built the frame. We still need to attach the maps differently but for now it works fine. It's hard to tell from the pictures but it's huge. It measures 3 feet x 4 1/2 feet. We also got him a CD that has songs of the states and capitals. I know you don't learn those things until 4th or 5th grade but I figured if he's into it then why not learn it now. He has amazed us and knows every single state, capital, and where each state is located. I found a game on the internet where you have a blank map of the United States and you have to place the states on it. He tied my score and beat Andy. Taylor and Ella have also gotten into it as well. They have a friend and a cousin named Madison and Taylor pointed out to me that their name is the same as the capital of Wisconsin. I heard Ella singing one of the songs to herself at breakfast and she stopped at Minnesota and said, "Mom, Minnesota is a funny word." I love that my kids love learning!
