Double Digits

I still can remember turning 10.  Double digits!  I now have a 10 year old!  Today we did what he wanted (which doesn't happen most of the time with 3 sisters).  We had cousins in town so we went to see Turbo with Grandma, Katie, Britney, Alexa, Brad, and Natalie.  Then we headed to the Rec Center to go swimming.  We ended the day with pizza and red velvet cake.  He had a great day.  All he wanted was a Cosmo Pillow Pet like his boy cousins have and an itunes gift card.  It was a great day!

Braden is awesome.  So chill.  I remember when I found out we were having a boy.  I was surprised and worried about having a boy first.  But he has been so easy from day one.  So sweet, calm, compromising.  Perfect first child.  He loves his sisters.  All he ever wanted were sisters and he got them and he loves them.   He will play with them and lets them in his room or play the wii with him.  He is so patient with them.  I hope they realize what a great brother Braden is.  He loves playing (hanging out) with friends.  His independence is blossoming and I'm not sure I'm ready for it.  He is so very smart.  Really.  I can't believe everything he knows.  He is into music, electronics, and gadgets.  He knows everything there is to know about anything.  Especially the iphone.  He could go get a job at Apple.  He's even given Grandma private lessons on how to use her phone.  Braden is a great piano player.  He has taken lesson for less than 2 years and has such a talent for it.  But he's losing his desire to keep going with it.  We're sticking it out for now because I know he'll regret quitting and someday thank me for pushing him to keep going.  He wants to be an Anesthesiologist when he grows up.  Every night before bed I go into his room and find Andy sitting on the end of his bed telling him about all the surgeries he did that day.  Braden is fascinated by it and knows all the lingo that goes with it.  Braden will always have a conversation with me while Andy's at work that goes something like this.  "I wonder what kind of surgeries Dad is doing today.  Do you think he did any blocks?"  Makes me smile.  He is a mini Andy to a T.  He is so excited to start 5th grade next week.  It's so fun to see him succeed in life.  Braden has always been a joy to have.  I tell Andy all the time like I feel Braden doesn't need me.  All I needed to do was bring him into this world and get out of the way so I don't mess anything up.  I'm doing my best.  ;) We love you Braden!!  You're the BEST!!
