Today was Braden's first day of school. He was so excited to go to Kindergarten. He already met his teacher, Mrs. Zealley, and loves her. Andy got called off this morning and so he was able to come with us but he stayed in the car with Taylor and Ella while I took Braden to the Kindergarten playground to wait for his teacher to come. I thought of my first day of Kindergarten with my teacher, Ms. Schroder. I remember how big Buena Vista looked to me and as I stood in front of Braden's school, which is quadruple the size of my elementary school, I was amazed that he wasn't scared at all. It was sad to watch him walk into the school with his teacher. Could it really be 5 years already? He looked like such a big boy, although I had to laugh because his spiderman backpack was as big as him! He is starting a new chapter in his life, "The School Years," that will continue for the next 13 years of his life. I remember living in South Carolina when Braden was a baby and having conversations with Andy about where we will be when he starts school. Five years seemed so far away but looking back it has gone by so fast.
And yes, today is my birthday. What a memorable one with it being Braden's first day of school!

Wow, first day already!! I thought we were early on the 14th! He does look so grown-up...maybe it's the backpack :) I remember sending Haylee off to kindergarten and I BALLED so bad. Wait, I STILL do that every year! I need to get a grip! Hope he had a great day. Oh, and the enchiladas were a hit :)

I just know i'm gonna cry my eyes out when kaden goes off to kindergarten. Laci isn't the only sap.
It does feel far away. But these next few years will be a blink. I wish kids came with a slow and fast button to enjoy the fun stages, and pass over the hard ones. :)

Sounds like Braden had a good first day of school! It's funny that he is starting his school year and Madelyn's year won't end until Friday!
Ah! I'm totally scared for Téa to start Kindergarten. She doesn't start until Aug. 25. I still have 2 weeks to prepare myself. I don't know why I'm worried or nervous. She did 2 years of preschool. I should be used to her going to school. And I love that the kid backpacks are so huge on our little ones.
Braden looks SO grownup! I can't believe how mature he looks! First day of Kindergarten is SO exciting!!
