Over the Weekend...

What a busy weekend we had!  On Saturday Andy ran in the Jupiter Peak Steeplechase in Park City.  It is a 16 mile trail race that climbs 3,000 feet in the first 8 miles and then you go back down the last 8 miles.  Andy DID NOT train for this race but he really wanted to do it.  He said it was much tougher than he thought it would be but he did much better than expected.  Andy's time was 2:30:39 and placed 34th overall.  His ability to run so fast and his endurance has always amazed me.  I think next year he'll put in a few extra miles to "train" for it.  Good job, Babe!

So while he was gone that morning I was at home with the kids.  When I was on the phone talking to Andy about how the race went Taylor somehow slipped into the computer room without me knowing.  When I got off the phone I hear a little chipmunk voice saying with excitement, "It's snowing!  It's snowing!"  Yes, it was Taylor's voice coming from the computer room and I went into the room and saw this:

Taylor had opened the paper shredder and thrown the tiny pieces of paper all over the room.  It reminded me of the time when Morag's front lawn was covered with shredded paper but I thought, this will be so much easier to clean up because I can vacuum it up!  So I took a few pictures to capture the moment because I wasn't upset.  I actually had a smile on my face as I watched her and Ella play in their snow.  (I think I'm going to be in trouble with those two in a few years as they get older.)  Hopefully when Taylor is older and has a little girl that is as curious and busy as she is and she asks me if she was like that I can say, "Yes!  Do you want to see all the things you did?"  Oh, how I love my little Taylor.  Such a sweet bundle of energy!

So back to the shredded paper.  I got a trash bag and picked up the big piles of it and then proceeded to vacuum up the rest of the pieces that were mashed into the carpet.  To my surprise I couldn't vacuum it up.  I don't know if it was static electricity or what but it just stayed in the carpet.  I went and emptied the canister and tried again.  Nope, every single little speck of paper was still there.  So I sent Taylor and Ella downstairs because they were trying to help.  So after an hour and a half (Andy was pulling in the driveway when I got done) I finally had it picked up.  If you ever encounter this situation I would highly recommend turning down the thermostat a few degrees.  It doesn't seem like it would be that physically demanding but the tedious work does make you break a sweat.  At this point I wasn't too happy with my busy body Taylor so I went downstairs to talk to her and saw this:

Yes, all was forgiven to see this piece of heaven... Taylor and Ella were happily playing house together.

Oh my word!!! That is all I could keep saying as I just laughed and laughed. And yes I also thought about the time our house got shredded paper all over the front lawn. That was thanks to all my friends who thought it would be fun to give me a "White" Christmas. And let me say it was no fun cleaning it up.
What a cutie taylor is. I sure do hope she had a great first day or preschool. Give the kids big hugs & kisses for us. Can't wait to see you guys at Knott's!! We are counting down already.
