Taylor's first day of Kindergarten was August 3rd. She was beyond ready to go and has loved every minute of it. She is starting to read the Bob Books like Braden did and is doing very well. She is in Mrs. Black's class and has made quite a few friends. She rides the bus and sits with our neighbor, Jade, who is in 4th grade.
We've been having bus issues with dropping her back home in the afternoon. The bus driver either doesn't stop or is almost 45 minutes late. The third day of school the bus ran out of gas. When Taylor got home she was upset that the bus driver didn't have any snacks for all the kids because they were hungry. I had to laugh at the thought. If the bus driver couldn't remember to fill the bus up with gas, I don't think she would have snacks on board. ;) Then the bus driver went on a 4 day stretch where she didn't stop at the bus stop and I had to chase the bus down until it stopped. I finally told Taylor that she needed to tell the bus driver to stop before she gets to her stop. I know, it's crazy that a five year old has to run the show but seriously, I didn't know what else to do. (But let me tell you. If there was a five year old to run the show it would be Taylor. If everyone had just an ounce of her confidence, the world would be a better place.) So the next day the bus stopped and Taylor came off the bus all smiles. She proceeded to tell me that when the bus was coming to the corner she stood up and yelled (at the top of her lungs), "Stop Bus Driver!!" I was laughing and surprised that the old lady didn't have a heart attack. Taylor walked home beaming.
