Take Me Out to the Ball Game...

Braden and Taylor played Baseball this past Spring (April/May/June) instead of playing soccer this year. I won't lie. I really wanted the kids to play soccer but I promised myself that I wouldn't be one of those parents that has their kids do what they want them to do and not what the kids want to do when it comes to sports. Braden really wanted to try it out and asked Taylor to play with him. So Baseball it was. Braden surprised us and was really good. It was machine pitch for 3 pitches and if they couldn't hit it then they hit the ball off the tee. Most of the time Braden could hit it off the machine. Taylor was the only girl on the team and was by far the youngest (we played her up so she could be on the same team as Braden) but in true Taylor fashion she held her own. She hit it off the machine a few times. The first time she hit it she had to come over to us to make sure we saw it and gave us a high-five before she proceeded to first base. It was hilarious seeing the kids out in the field. The boys would be throwing their gloves up in the air or sitting down throwing grass basically just not paying any attention at all. But then you would see Taylor (usually in the short stop position, not that they had actual positions) in her stance. Knees bent, glove down, ready for the ball. (I wish we got a picture of it but we didn't.) She would get so frustrated if the ball would go by someone else who wasn't paying any attention but would notice the ball and pick it up before she could get to it. Braden learned that he really just likes hitting the ball and the rest of it not so much. The kids were lucky enough to be able to have Grandma, Papa, and Agnes at their last game. They say their favorite thing about Baseball was going out for ice cream with Grandma, Papa, and Agnes after the game. I think we'll sign them up for soccer next week. ;)
