Christmas 2011

I love Christmas time. I really do. I love that Christmas fell on a Sunday this year. There's something about going to church and singing the songs on Christmas morning that make it extra special. And I love that we didn't have snow this year. It reminded me of my Christmases growing up and it just made me smile.

I had it in my head that we were going to start new Christmas traditions this year. We decorated for Christmas after Thanksgiving, made a gingerbread house, treats for neighbors, read Luke chapter 2, didn't get Christmas cards out, you know, the usual. I wanted to do more but flew by too quickly. I blame it on the kids being in school until the 23rd. It just felt like Christmas snuck up on us this year.

We did keep the tradition of the kids getting 3 presents plus their stockings for Christmas. We have always done it this way and I don't think it will ever change. I love the simpleness of it. The girls were so excited about their American Girl dolls. I sewed them some outfits for their dolls and bedding. Andy made them beds for their dolls. They couldn't have been more content. Braden only wanted the Harry Potter wii game. Nothing else. So he was beyond excited about the remote control helicopter and angry birds game he got. It was a magical morning, peaceful day, and I really felt the warmth of the season celebrating the birth of our Savior with the ones I love most.

I hope your Christmas was merry!
