Our Master Closet

I love my new master closet!!  A few months ago I would have told you I hated my closet.

 Of course I knew it would be a huge undertaking so I documented with pictures!!

Way back in December Andy and I started looking at cabinets for our laundry room.  We found one on display at Lowe's that we liked.  A few weeks later Andy went back to get it priced out.  He came home and told me the 8 simple cabinets I wanted were $4995.00!  Are you kidding me??  I jokingly told Andy that he could build them and I could get exactly what I wanted for much less!  Andy took it to heart and starting researching without me knowing.  He got a subscription to Fine Woodworking Magazine (I kid you not) and then discussed with me his plans to build cabinets in the laundry room.  I was so excited!  It was close to the end of January at the time and we drew up sketches and decided exactly what we wanted to do with the laundry room (which has now changed quite a bit, but that's a different story).  I told Andy it might be a huge project to start with and that he might want to do a test run project.  I suggested we revamp our master closet.  For the next month or so we drew up plans and got everything finalized.  I should have started off by saying my only contributions were the design and the math that went into the design.  Well, the light and hardware too!  ;)  Although I learned a lot throughout the process, Andy did it all by himself with 2x4's, birch plywood, bead board, and all sorts of fun stuff!!  It took almost 3 months to build it and he only did it in his spare time, a few hours here and there and a handful of Saturdays.  We weren't in a huge hurry so it didn't take priority in our lives otherwise it could have been done a lot sooner.  We've had it done for almost a month and it puts a smile on my face every single time I walk in there.  I absolutely love everything about it!!  And I love that Andy built every square inch of it!  It's perfect.  We're going to take a break from projects and start on the laundry room in August which is going to be so unbelievable!  I can't wait!!
