Changes for Taylor

On Thursday I got a call from Ella's school informing me that Taylor got in!  I was beyond excited.  Taylor has been on the waiting list for almost 3 years and she's been asking the entire time when she'll be able to go.  I was anxious for her to get home so I could tell her the news as we had just talked about it right before she got on the bus that morning.  I was expecting her to be super excited as well so I wasn't prepared for the reaction I got.  She looked stunned and then started to cry.  And cried a lot.  She has had a very rough class this year but I guess she has learned to cope and has actually liked going to school.  I comforted her and talked with how fun it would be and that a few of her friends were in her new class and she seemed to cheer up a bit.  Until a few minutes later when she realized she was going to be the star student next week and then the crying resumed.  I promised her we would go to her new school in the morning and meet her teacher and see her classroom.  This morning we went bright and early and did just that.  Her teacher was so excited to meet her and Taylor's assistant teacher's name is Taylor too so that made her smile.  We went into the gym to find where the class lines up and a bunch of girls came up to her to ask her if she was Taylor.  She beamed as she got a lot of unexpected attention.  We left before school started so she could go to her old class for the last day and say goodbye.  As we were leaving she told me she wished she could start today instead of waiting until Monday.  I'm glad she is learning that change can sometimes be hard and scary but it can also be good! Hopefully this will be a new start to a great year!  (And fingers crossed for Braden to get in next year!)
