I'm not going to lie. This week started out a bit bumpy. Thankfully it ended better than it started. We had to work with our engineer (again) on fixing a problem with one of the headers. I think Andy used words like, "This was missed, you guys messed up again, and this time we're not paying for you to change it." So far we haven't received a bill and fingers crossed that they wouldn't be so bold to send us a bill because we played nice and payed for the previous 3 mistakes they've made. If only we did that in the first place. I digress. The wood for the decking had 2 damaged pieces that we called them about the day it was delivered and they played the avoidance technique to skirt away from it since it was the 2 largest boards and they want to replace them with 4 smaller boards. Andy wrote them a very nice email about how wonderful they had been with the ordering process, which they were, and how their product was great and far superior than other competitors, which it is, and they emailed him back a few days ago saying that they appreciated his positive feedback and that they would send us 2 replacement boards plus a few extras. Best news all week. We had our 4 way inspection on Thursday. Chris said he never has seen anything like it, in a bad way. The guy took over 3 hours. I asked Andy if they said a closing prayer at the end. ;) We were lucky enough to get assigned to the most uptight guy in the entire universe. Apparently he's never passed anyone on their first inspection, ever, in over 25 years. We weren't the exception. He did say that we were the best one he has ever seen and complemented the great work. He also mentioned that everything passed code but he has a personal preference of how he likes things to be done which is overkill. I guess that's comforting but extremely irritating at the same time. It's going to set us back another week.
On a brighter note the electrical was finished. Most of the stuff that needs to be fixed for our 4 way inspection was done on Friday. We'll get the rest finished up this next week and have the inspector come back on Thursday or Friday. Other good news is that the inspector is going to allow the insulation to get started before he comes back so that will start tomorrow. We have dry wall scheduled for the 24th and the exterior will start on the 27th. I'm hoping to find a second wind this next week as I finalize the stone, flooring, fireplace, finishes...wish me luck!
