St. George Weekend Getaway

Andy and I had been talking about taking a trip down to St. George when Braden had track break to get out of the cold and just getaway for a long weekend.  Andy decided to take the first week of February off and it ended up working perfectly to be able to go to my niece's baptism as well.  My oh my did we have the most beautiful weather!!  We originally thought we would come back Monday and then it switched to leaving early Tuesday morning.  Let's just say we got home a little before 7pm.  We really didn't want to leave.  If Andy didn't LOVE his job, we would probably be moving at the first job opportunity we could find in St. George.  I know it is hotter than hot in the summers but I could handle spending all day at the pool!  :)

 We arrived in St. George Friday evening and woke up Saturday morning and headed down to Las Vegas for Madelyn’s baptism.  Her baptism was very nice and she looked absolutely beautiful in her dress.  I only managed to get one picture of her and she wasn’t in her dress.  It was quite the gathering as 6 of the 10 kids in my family were there.  The kids had so much fun with their cousins.  Taylor of course was excited to see “Chloe-dog” and “her girls.”  Yes, she has so many girl cousins that she just calls them her girls.  And of course Braden and Carson were glued to the Wii.  Ella was so tired but toward the end of the evening she got her second wind and went off to play with Emmalee and Kacee.  She quickly had her personality showing as she was playing her little game called, “I burped!”  She forces out a fake burp and laughs hysterically as she says, “I burped!”  Don’t ask me how she learned it but she has done it for quite a while and she loves it.

 On Sunday we went to church with my parents and had lunch.  Braden was able to play a few games of Mario Kart with Haylee, Madison, and Isabelle, and we were off to spend the rest of the day with Aaron, Jaquelyn, and their girls.  I love how our kids get along so well together.  They played the entire time without any squabbles.

 On Monday we spent the morning visiting with Andy’s Grandparents and then met up with Aaron, Jaquelyn, and Chelsea at Red Rock to climb “The Crack.”  (Really, what is that place called??)  The weather was beautiful and the kids did quite well with climbing on the Red Rock.  Ella wanted nothing to do with the crack so I climbed out with her and waited for the rest to go through.  I’m amazed that with 8 kids, Braden at the age of 5 being the oldest, that we didn’t have any major problems.

 On our way out of town on Tuesday we stopped by to see Chelsea’s new home.  It was fun to see where they are at and to visit with her for a bit.  We hadn’t seen them since they moved in June so it had been a while.

 It was REALLY hard to come back to the cold weather but we have a few projects we want to tackle before Andy goes back to work on Monday.  {I’ll post those when they’re completed!}

 The kids really miss you Grandma and Papa!!  Taylor keeps telling me that Papa lives at our house now and Ella cries for Grandma or Papa when she wakes up in the morning.  Thanks so much for letting us stay with you!
