We had a different Easter weekend this year since Andy was on call Saturday. We did manage to dye some easter eggs on Friday night. We let Braden and Taylor each dye 2 eggs and that was plenty of fun for them. Luckily Ella was content with watching and playing with stickers. On Saturday the weather was cold and rainy so I decided to pitch a tent in the family room and the kids watched a movie. While that entertained them I was able to make some cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, and prep some other food for our Easter Sunday dinner. Taylor was so upset when it was time to go to bed because she wanted to sleep in the tent. I let them which was a big mistake because they didn't sleep very well. It took them over an hour to settle down and fall asleep and then they were up at 4:30 in the morning ready to go. I told them to go downstairs and play so they wouldn't wake up Ella and went back to bed as well. I totally forgot that the Easter Bunny left their baskets on their beds since they slept in the tent and sure enough they found them. Taylor came upstairs around 5 am telling me that the Easter Bunny came. I asked her what she got and she said, "CANDY!" I asked her if she ate any of the candy and she replied, "No, I ate ALL of the candy!" Sure enough she ate every piece of it. Luckily the Easter Bunny was smart and didn't leave too much candy but apparently enough for her to complain that she had a tummy ache during church.
Overall, we had a wonderful Easter. We woke up to a beautiful Easter Sunday. The sun was shining, the sky was blue, birds were chirping, and it felt like the dead, dreary winter had passed. I was thinking during Sacrament Meeting about the Easter Season and what it means to me personally. I love how we focus on how the Savior overcame death on the 3rd day and not on His actually death on the cross. It's a wonderful time of year to reflect on the Savior's life and know that because He overcame death we too will be resurrected. This gift of eternal life gives us hope, joy, and peace in our lives. I hope you all feel the joy and peace of this Easter Season.
