Art Gallery Wall

Our art gallery wall is gone. It has been there at least a year and the kids were constantly redesigning their masterpiece wall. We let them because (a) we hate the colors of our walls and it seemed like a good way to cover them and (b) we haven't committed to hanging anything on the massive wall because we wanted to paint it first. It became quite the conversation piece when our home teachers would come over and the kids would show them all the new pictures that weren't there the month before. (Just think of it as a the front of your refrigerator that you hang your kids' best work on. Except, I can't stand things on my refrigerator so the wall seemed like a good option. ;) ) Andy spent a few days (well, probably more like weeks) last month painting and getting rid of the yellow and gold that adorned the walls upstairs. We have redesigned the rooms by repurposing the furniture. AKA moving everything from upstairs--downstairs and everything downstairs--upstairs. Very time consuming and tiring but doesn't cost a penny! So in all this 'repurposing of furniture' we ended up with an extra entertainment center hutch because we mounted our flat screen above the fireplace. We put the hutch in an alcove in the kitchen and I turned it into this storage area for all the coloring books, crayons, pencils, scissors, games, etc. My life may never be the same. This stuff used to take up 3 drawers in my kitchen and 2 shelves on a bookshelf and it was always a mess and usually would end up on the countertop and not the drawers/bookshelf and nothing was organized into categories. (Sigh) Now everything has a home and it stays neat and organized which makes me very happy! I feel like I have my kitchen back and I love not having to move the coloring books before I can start making dinner. ;)

So, next I need to decorate. (Gasp!) Just the thought of hanging things on the walls, curtains, and throw pillows give me anxiety because I can't commit to anything when it comes to decorating. Hopefully I'll have a finish product in the next year or two (seriously). Wish me luck!
