Pinewood Derby

Braden has been anticipating the pinewood derby since it was announced in February!   He really likes cars and knew exactly what he wanted to do for his car.  Andy created the shape of his car by spending a few hours filing away at it.  Braden painted it and put the decals on it.  I think it turned out great.  The last time I went to a pinewood derby I was a little girl and lets say it was way different than I remember!  ;)  The electronic track...who knew??  Very high tech!  Braden had a great time and won his heats and took 3rd overall.  He got the "Best Sport" award because they messed up on the final heat and mixed up Braden's car with another.  He was so sad but didn't say anything.  We knew there was a mistake because he only raced 2 times and each car was supposed to race 3 times no matter what.  I was telling someone that there is always next year and they told me that the stake only does it every 3 years.  When I saw Braden's disappointment I went and talked with the leader and they looked over the paperwork and saw that they had made a mistake so they had another round of the finals.  Braden was so excited and was thrilled to get 3rd place.  Way to go, Braden!!
