Our House: Week 38

Happy Mother's Day!

Well.  It's official.  We have to be out by June 30th.  To say we're stressed to the max and feel like the rug has been pulled out from under us would be an understatement.  We have exactly 50 days to be out of our rental.  Ugh!  I'm beyond frustrated with the whole situation and won't even get into the details for my own sanity.

Moving on.  Wood floors were delivered.  All 53 boxes...;)  Carpet was measured.  Tile was ordered and there was a huge hiccup because the tile I wanted to use for the upstairs bath, laundry, and mudroom was on back order...for 2 months.  Lovely.  I ordered the rest of the tile but I'm scrambling to find something else to replace the other.  Chris got most of the staircase/railings done this past week and he will start tiling this week.  I'm getting the countertops figured out.  I chose all the bathroom countertops on Friday and I'm going to go choose our granite slabs tomorrow.  Andy's trying to keep his head above water with cabinets/work/painting/life/stress.  The cabinets are coming, slowly but surely.  I told Andy that we'll just have to have "open shelving" cabinets so we can move in and he can build the doors later.  That's been the name of the game this week.  What do we have to do and what can we not do to be able to get our certificate of occupancy and move in.  Not where we wanted to be but it's our reality.  We don't want to be homeless and we're not moving twice.  As big of a nightmare as it has turned into it is what it is and we're trying to embrace it, smiles and all.  I spent most of the days this week sanding and caulking.  I have 3 more rooms to go!  Then I'll start all over with the painting prep.  I hope my fingers can hold up.  I caulked until my fingers bled....literally.

Lily watched me caulk most of the week and after careful observation said, "Mom, I don't think I'm going to be able to move into this house."  I asked her why.  Her response, "Because I think I'll be a Mom before we finish the house so just you and Dad will move in."  We're getting there baby girl.  I promise we'll be moving in on your 5th birthday.  Promise.
