The only thing we scheduled before we went to Hawaii was surfing lessons. Andy and I have always wanted to learn and thought the kids would love to try it too! We went to Chun's Reef and all 6 of us went surfing! Andy, Braden and Lily went for the first lesson. Braden shocked me at how well he did. He got up almost every single wave and rode it in. Lily just popped right up and had so much fun. Andy caught quite a few waves too. Taylor, Ella, and I went next. It was hard to watch the girls surf and catch some waves as well so I only got to see Ella take one wave and she did awesome. Her instructor let her take the wave by herself since she rode tandem on quite a few waves. It gave me a heart attack to see her on a wave without her instructor but she did great and loved it. I surprised myself and did much better than I thought I would. Then I went into "mom mode" and I was feeling little panicked being way out in the water with all the reef everywhere while standing on a surf board. I still had fun but realized I'm definitely not as carefree as I used to be. Taylor was a rockstar and rode every single wave that came to her. She rode the wave as far as she could then she would lay back down and paddle back out. She came back with her hair completely dry after almost an hour of surfing. She didn't fall once and never put her body in the ocean. She just stayed on the board the entire time. Our instructors couldn't believe it. Braden and Taylor loved it so much they both said they wished we could live in Hawaii so they could go surfing everyday. After surfing lessons we met up with Brian and Jared and their families at Pounders Beach. Right when we got there Andy noticed something in the water and went and caught some sort of orange thing. I don't know what it is but it was neat to watch it swim around in the bucket. The kids had fun boogie boarding and swimming with their cousins.
