Christmas 2010

Christmas Eve 2010
Christmas Morning

The kids anxiously waiting for the last gift to be opened
which was this...
We had a wonderful Christmas! A bit different from past years because of all the sickness we (mostly me) had almost the entire month of December but grateful the kids were well for Christmas. (Andy and I had sinus infections, his first one of the month, my third.) The kids had very specific requests this year--pillow pets and zhu zhu pets. I tried to stick to my 3 gifts per kid rule but it was stretched a little since we gave all three girls the kitchen and some accessories to go with it. I'm a stickler on this for some reason. I've taught my kids that Santa only gives them one present and we have never written Santa or visited him to ask him for what they want. If I could have my way, I wouldn't even do the whole Santa thing so this is the compromise that works for me.

This year I really wanted to make the kids something special and talked Andy into making the girls a kitchen set (from ana-white.com) and Braden a frame/magnet board/map to go on his wall. With all the sickness we were only able to complete the kitchen and still have all the materials in the garage to make Braden's frame/board for his map. I was a little worried that we wouldn't even get the kitchen finished because we were 6 days away from Christmas Day and we hadn't even bought the wood. But we got it done and we are more than thrilled with how it turned out. The girls have played with it every single day since. I think it will be a new tradition to make something for the kids each year.

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas too!
