Guess who came to school today...

Any guesses??? It's Dr. Scott the Paleontologist from Dinosaur Train! Taylor came running home off the bus last week and was grinning from ear to ear. She couldn't contain her excitement and was yelling something to me. I didn't know what she was saying until she got closer. "Guess what? Dr. Scott the Paleontologist is coming to our school!" I got the letter out of her backpack and was happy to see that they were inviting the parents and siblings as well. Our school is huge and they don't invite parents to anything. They have award assemblies and I don't know about them until after Braden brings an award home. Anyway, it was only for Kindergarten through 2nd grade and now I know why they don't invite parents to anything. The place was packed. We got there early and I noticed Dr. Scott sitting on the steps in the front and so I took Ella and Lily up to get a picture with him. The assembly was fun and quite interesting. He introduced 4 new dinosaurs that they just discovered here in Utah and announced to the world last month. He said that Utah is the best place in the whole world to find dinosaurs and I guess he comes here frequently to do dinosaur digs. An interesting fact was that all birds are dinosaurs. He captured the kids attention by telling them they had all probably eaten a dinosaur if they have ever had chicken or turkey. At the end of the assembly Buddy came out. He got quite a bit of attention afterward so I was unable to get a picture of the kids with him. Overall, a very fun event for the kids. To sum it up Taylor said, "It's the best week ever!" So maybe she thinks every week is going to be the best week ever but still it was fun!
