Happy Halloween!

We started off the day with carving pumpkins. I tackled gutting the pumpkins without Andy so the kids could carve their pumpkins when Andy got home from work. The kids really wanted to help so I let them until Taylor started gagging which was causing a domino effect. I really didn't want to clean up throw up so I had the kids wash their hands and watch me. Each of them (except Lily) drew their faces on their pumpkins and I think they turned out great. Lily chose which one she wanted hers to look like and chose Ella's pumpkin.
Before we went to Hawaii I worked on sewing the kids costumes. Taylor and Ella have wanted to be Ariel since they saw The Little Mermaid at Tuacahn this past July. So I sewed each of them a more modest mermaid costume. They were thrilled. Braden wanted to be Harry Potter so I sewed him a cloak. (He just wanted to wear the cloak over regular clothes that is why he's wearing jeans and a t-shirt underneath.) I think I get very lucky in the sewing of costumes each year because I don't use a pattern and it always seems to work out. I didn't know what Lily would end up choosing on the actual day of Halloween. She wears her Cinderella or Tangled dress every single day. She ended up choosing her tangled dress and was so excited to go trick-or-treating.
Since the weather was actually nice this year we lasted longer than 5 minutes trick-or-treating which means the kids have way too much candy and couldn't be happier!
(I'm trying to make good use of the candy. You'll find out in a future post!)
