Our House: Week 43

This week has been a complete blur.  So much that I didn't realize it was Father's Day until I woke up this morning!  Thank goodness my kids are so awesome they remembered.  They spent yesterday making cards, writing books, and drawing pictures for Andy while we were up at the house working.  Andy pulled a 19 hour day and finished the day painting the doors, railings, and bathroom vanities until 4am!  He's awesome.  Burned out, tired, and beyond ready to be done with this house but absolutely aMAZing!  I had to read my last post to even remember what was going to happen this past week because nothing went as planned.  Driveway isn't finished, electrical isn't finished, tile...we ran out so it isn't finished, and carpet?  Isn't started!  What a week!  A week of nothing getting checked off the list which was exactly what we didn't need.  The driveway was started on Monday and then they came back again on Wednesday to finish it up but they didn't get the approach done so we have a 12" drop from the road.  I'm hoping they're coming back tomorrow or Tuesday to finish it.  I got a call on Tuesday from the carpet place saying there was a slight problem.  When it was determined that the said problem was that the carpet I had ordered 6 weeks ago still wasn't delivered to their warehouse and they have no idea when it will be here I panicked.  Although I loved her optimism that not having our carpet was slight problem I wasn't convinced.  It's a huge problem!   We have 15 days to be out of our house so we get the certificate of occupancy and move in as unfinished as the house is or we're homeless.  We really need carpet!

Moving along...Our plan for this week?  Monday-finish driveway, paint other side of interior doors.  Tuesday-prime kitchen cabinets and upstairs vanities, stain railings.  Wednesday-paint cabinets/vanities.  Thursday-finish tile in master bath.  Friday-grout tile, finish electrical, stain front door.  Saturday-Railings.  Hopefully carpet will be installed somewhere in there.  If that happens we'll get our inspection on the 23rd and start moving in.  This week will be our last working week and I'm hoping it goes better than last week or I need to start looking for a hotel.  ;)
