X-Country

Taylor and Braden ran cross country again this year. Braden was excited since he had to take last year off with his broken elbow but he was alittle nervous because he was running at the high school the year. They both trained with the high school over the summer every morning at 7am. They had great seasons! Taylor was top 3 girls and was bummed to miss state because of our Italy trip. Based on the times her coach said she would have been top 7 at State. Braden was top 2-3 boys on his team but had a bit of a hiccup with the coach when we decided not to have him run a meet in Moab as it was overnight and he would miss 2 days of school. Braden was going to miss 2 weeks of school with our trip and he had a presentation in his AP class that he didn't want to miss. It was an optional meet and the coach assured the kids they didn't have to go since it was so far away but apparently he gave Braden the cold shoulder and we dealt with crap the rest of the season for it. Braden ran awesome and despite his coach putting him on JV from Varsity he still lettered as a Freshman and did great. That's the thing I love about running. The numbers don't lie. If you run faster, you're faster. Doesn't matter what the coach does. I love that my kids enjoy running and push themselves every meet to get better and better. Great lessons that can be used in life.

Taylor ready to run at her first meet!
