Our House: Week 14

The basement was completely framed this week.  It's exciting to go walk through the house and really see the layout.  We couldn't be happier with how it's turned out.  It's going to be awesome!  The only thing I changed during the framing process was the wall between the laundry room and mud room.  We moved the wall and took 2 feet from the laundry room and expanded the mud room 2 feet.  The laundry room was huge and the mud room was smaller than I wanted so it worked out perfectly.

The trusses were delivered yesterday.  They're huge!  When we were driving up to the house we saw trusses that were delivered to another house and they were in a cute pile on the sidewalk.  I think my jaw dropped when we saw ours.  I'm a little worried about the roof now because I can't visualize it on the plans and we really had to trust our architect that he was designing it the way we wanted it.  I think our architect hated us during the roof process.  It was the toughest part of the whole designing process and the very last thing so we were running out of steam after 3 months of our lives revolving around designing a house.  Who knew there were so many options with the roof style, pitch, gables, porch?  It took us almost a month to decide the final roof design with lots of "Are you sure it's going to look like this?"  It's going to be a long week as we wait for the roof to go on.  I'm not going to lie.  I'm a little anxious over it.  Fingers crossed that I love it because it is what it is and there's no changing it now.  We have to wait until next Monday, December 2nd, for the crane to come lift the trusses.  It seems unreal that it will be December!  Where has the time gone?
