Our House: Week 34

I think we carried the momentum from last week to push things forward.  Andy primed the entire house Monday night and all day Tuesday.  It is so nice to have that done and keep the dust to a minimum.  He had a really busy week at work and still managed to paint the ceilings and start on the kitchen cabinets. Yeah.  That's the next big item to tackle and check off our list.  Along with a bunch of other big items, like painting the walls and cabinetry, installing the deck, finish work, tile, wood floors, driveway, oh my.  I'll stop there.  We're trying to not look past the end of our noses right now or we get overwhelmed.  Funny how easy it is to get paralyze by the to do list these days.  So kitchen cabinets, be kind, ever so kind.  There are a lot of them to build and I'm holding my breath that it all goes smoothly.  Andy's hoping to have all of them done by the end of April.  Right now our discussion have been about what we can hold off doing until after we move in.  Our list includes closets, window trim, painting the exterior, landscaping, built ins, laundry room and mud room cabinets.  People ask when our house will be done.  My response?  Three years.  They usually gasp so I'm glad I didn't say 5 years.  I know this process isn't for everyone.  This is what we wanted and we're living our dream together.  It's been full of ups and downs and I've loved almost every minute.  This is a marathon and it feels like we're on mile 10.  Looking forward to the next 16.2!
