Not What I Expected Yesterday to be...

With yesterday being our 9th anniversary we had plans to go to the Temple and then dinner.  The mood of the day suddenly switched gears when I got a call from Andy around noon and the first thing he says is "Ella and I are okay but the car is not."  He was out running errands and was driving home and a crazy driver {imagine that in Utah ;)} was driving down the freeway weaving in and out of cars and as she passed Andy he started to slow down because he thought that she was an accident waiting to happen.  She was 3 lanes away from him and the next thing Andy sees is her spinning out of control hitting the car next to Andy causing it to spin, smashing our car into the median.  Oh, what a lovely anniversary present.  Of course her car wasn't damage at all.  Andy doesn't even think she had a scratch on her new car {she didn't even have license plates}.  The car that hit Andy was damaged but ours took the beating.  We are waiting to hear back from her insurance company to determine whether our car is a total loss or if they'll fix it.  We are hoping they will just fix it because the money we'll receive for the replacement of the car will be, let's just say far less than what it will cost to actually replace it.  Andy had to call the lady that caused the accident because 6 hours after the accident she still hadn't reported it to her insurance company and they wouldn't proceed with anything until she called them.  Let's just say that I am appalled at how the conversation went.  She never once said sorry nor did she ask how Andy or Ella was.  NOT ONCE!!  All she told Andy was that she was late to a closing and she had to get there and she was so glad that she was able to because her car wasn't damaged and blah, blah, blah, all about HER!!  So Andy finally interrupted and told her that he unfortunately was without a car and wasn't going to be able to get a rental car or have anything done about our car until she called her insurance company to report the incident.  She sounded as if that was such an inconvenience for her to do although it was legally her responsibility to do it immediately since she was given the ticket and blame for the accident.  Long story short {well, I guess it has already been a long story} the insurance company ended up having to call her!  I have had a flood of emotions, from angry that the lady could be so selfish and drive so recklessly that she caused us so much grief, to so glad that Andy and Ella are safe.  I'm grateful they are safe because after seeing our car I know it could have been much worse.  Like my dad said, it's an anniversary we'll always remember but would love to forget!  We decided (well, I decided) to postpone our plans we had yesterday.  When we were going to bed last night I told Andy that the day definitely didn't turn out how we had planned.

{Happy 100th post to me!!  I guess I will always remember what my 100th blog post was about! ; )}

How scary! I was filled with more and more rage as I read through---WOW, some people are clueless! I'm glad everyone is okay.

Oh no, I'm so sorry! I'm really glad And and Ella are alright. Was Ella scared at all during the incident?
I'd be a total basket case if I'd been in Andy's shoes. I would've screamed at that lady for being so reckless and selfish.
Accidents are the worst. Hope your anniversary celebration is still nice later on. :)
